With figures released last week there has never been a better time to consider a career in the aerospace sector. So let’s consider some facts.
The Aerospace industry delivered 100 aircraft in February, worth £2bn to UK and a total of 1,443 commercial aircraft were manufactured last year breaking the delivery record for a sixth consecutive year.
Probably more staggering is the backlog of 13,436 commercial aircraft on order in February, worth about £220bn to UK industry. This is the third-highest backlog on record for civil aerospace (according to ADS) and shows the desire and need for new aircraft worldwide.
Despite Brexit concerns, the UK remains the European hub for the Aerospace sector, with Airbus operating major manufacturing and R&D plants in the UK. This is further emphasised with the recent announcement that Boeing has chosen Britain as home for its new European headquarters with its first ever European manufacturing site to be based in Sheffield.
The UK has the world’s second largest aerospace industry with an unrivalled capability in R&D and ability to develop new technologies it makes for plenty of career opportunities; whether you already operate within this cutting edge sector or are considering a first time move.
