The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) was established in 2010 with the simple objective of bridging the gap between academia and industry. Based at Ansty Park in Coventry, the state-of-the-art facility opened in 2011 and provides an unparalleled environment for the development and demonstration of advanced processes and technologies on truly industrial scale.
Having exceeded all growth predictions since launch, membership now stands at more than 105 companies representing multiple industry sectors, and boasts over 540 staff members – many of whom are experts in their field, combined with an annual income stream in excess of £50 million.
Forming part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, which is supported by Innovate UK (formerly the Technology Strategy Board), the immediate future of the MTC is equally impressive. Funded by a combined £90 million matched investment from government and industry, both the Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre and the Aerospace Research Centre have been launched this year in an unprecedented expansion.
Strategically, the vision of The MTC is to inspire Great British manufacturing on the global stage. From encouraging young people into careers in engineering, through to developing the technologies that will impact industry for years to come, the focus is to provide innovative manufacturing processes and technologies in an agile environment in partnership with industry, academia and other institutions.
This centre of engineering excellence and research specialises in supporting a range of manufacturing processes that are particularly sought after by the high value manufacturing sector and include:
Component Manufacturing Systems
High Integrity Fabrication
Net Shape &Additive Manufacturing
Metrology & NDT
