The automotive industry is a vital part of the UK manufacturing sector. With seven passenger vehicle manufacturers and some of the worlds most recognised off highway and commercial vehicles there is a strong network of production in the UK linked to a significant network of component manufacturers both OE and Aftermarket.

The automotive sector contributes around £9 billion to the economy, and accounts for a significant part of the country's economy employing in excess of a half a million people in manufacturing alone.

The UK continues to develop as a technical centre globally for both complete vehicle design and powertrain development with many global vehicle manufacturers utilising the technical expertise of the staff employed across the sector.
