Untitled document CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

A passionate commitment to innovation, investment in new products, technology and skills, coupled with the flexibility to respond to rapidly changing customer needs - these are just some of the strengths that place this company at the forefront of hybrid vehicle design and development.

Keen to capitalise on new business opportunities within this dynamic and revolutionary sector of the automotive industry, a COO is sought to augment the senior management team in line with ambitious development of existing capability and expertise.

The Company

This is a relatively young organisation in a rapid but controlled growth phase. They are seeking now to capitalise on their market leading position in a new technology sector.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will assume responsibility for overall programme management of the various engineering projects - ensuring they run to time as well as produce competitive, safe, robust, market ready products.

In addition to programme management, you will also hold overall responsibility for development of business operations. This will range from developing the supply chain, identifying and developing suitable equipment for high volume manufacture; implementing appropriate production management systems and quality assurance systems. You will also work closely with the Chief Technical Officer, who is responsible for performance aspects of product development as well as technical direction.

As a key member of the executive board, you will be expected to take the lead in defining the processes and implementing the infrastructure and systems needed to support substantial growth in the business over the next 5-10 years. As COO, you will also serve as business partner to the CEO in developing the organisation's strategic, commercial, financial, budgetary, and administrative processes - with an eye to growing the business aggressively, whilst ensuring the integrity and development of supporting systems.

The Person

Due to the diverse nature of the role, it is expected that the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in most of the following areas:

Credible and capable of operating at senior board level, and as a representative of the organisation while engaging with customers, suppliers, partners and investors.
Able to contribute to the strategic direction of the business and command the respect of the board.
Be an excellent communicator who is able to harness the culture of the business and develop and spread a vision to the team.
Be a strong leader who has a proven track record of building and leading strong teams capable of exceptional performance.
Experienced at delivering multiple, multiple, technically complex engineering or automotive projects to tight timelines.
Technically competent (degree educated or equivalent) and able to earn the respect of the technical team.
Possess experience of introducing appropriate processes for project and production management - ideally gained in an Automotive Systems / Power Electronics environment.
Experience of developing a supply chain capable of meeting world class commercial and quality standards.
Exposure to international business environments with previous experience of business start-up a distinct advantage.

This is a high profile and challenging role, offering considerable opportunity, authority and reward within arguably the most exciting area of vehicle development and technology. So, if you are looking to make a real contribution to the future success and direction of a class-leading, high technology organisation, then look no further.

The Package

The basic salary is up to £80k with executive benefits and share options.
